To & From Croatia :
From Dublin Ryanair fly direct to Dubrovnik in roughly three and a half hours and at sensible hours.
You can arrive into DVK mid-afternoon and being less than 10 Km to Cavtat , the taxi ride will take less than 15 minutes.
We stayed at the Hotel Croatia; a wonderful hotel perked high above the coastline in pine forests, affording spectacular views of Cavtat bay. The hotel has both an indoor and outdoor ( sea water ) pool, and the only 5 star Spa in Cavtat a perfect setting for a relaxing few days, within striking distance of Dubrovnik.

Awake Tip: Skip the queue at the airport taxi stand and pre-book a taxi to your hotel.
Woke Tip: Ask the Hotel for a high-level Sea view room, and it is worth paying for an upgrade if necessary so you can enjoy the views from your balcony.
The hotel has superb eating options, but the small town of Cavtat is within walking distance, there is a walkway down the hillside from the hotel to the small town, and then a short scenic walk into the town.
One special restaurant towards the end of the town is Taverna Konoba Galija a traditional Croatian family run restaurant with accommodation and running cooking courses for those interested in picking up some culinary tips.

The advantage of staying outside Dubrovnik is that you have less crowds and a far more relaxing time to experience this part of Croatia, Cavtat is one of the southernmost resort areas in Croatia and only 20 km from the Montenegro border.
There are a couple of ways of getting to Dubrovnik but by far the best is by boat. It takes about 45 minutes across the bay into the harbour.

The city is walled, so can be very tightly packed with tourists, and in 1979 the Old Town became a UNESCO World heritage site, further cementing its popularity.

Awake Tip: Find out when the Cruise liners are due in and avoid at all costs—the city isn’t worth visiting alongside the contents of the big cruise ships.
Woke Tip: Pre-book the Dubrovnik card, valid for a day it gives access to the City Walls which you can walk, taking in all the views the 2km walls will take over an hour to wander. It also shapes your itinerary for the day providing access to many sites, don’t miss the Cultural Historical Museum at the Rector’s palace, if you buy a three day card, you can visit top sights in Cavtat as well such as the Racic Family Mausoleum and the Konavle Heritage Museum.
